I can’t quite believe that no one has pointed me in the direction of Mount Salvation before now. Although I am not entirely sure that I would have an awful lot in common with it’s dedicated creator Leonard Knight, for me this is better than Disneyland. These beautiful photos were taken by National Geographic photographer Aaron Huey, who undertook a photographic essay with Leonard at Salvation Mountain. Although the place in itself is intriguing enough, these photos give an incredible insight into the meaning of the site to Leonard, and what is pushing him to create, and continually renew it. Here’s hoping I’m wandering around California somewhere near the Salton sea soon.
